About The March Hare

The March Hare is Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage’s long-running quarterly newsletter, now in a full-fledged blog format. It’s the place where Dancing Rabbit members share stories, videos, and other information about the day to day life in a rural ecovillage.

Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, now in its 13th year, is located on 280 acres in the rolling prairie of northeastern Missouri and is currently composed of 60 members. Ecological sustainability is the primary focus of each member’s daily life and the village’s long-term vision. Residents agree to follow ecological covenants and sustainability guidelines, and build homes using alternative natural techniques such as straw bale and cob, powering them with renewable energy from sun and wind. Members eat an ever-increasing amount of local, organic, and in-season foods, including many home-grown vegetables, and vehicles are owned collectively.
